4 – Day Safari

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will be greeted by a Wild Rhythms Safaris representative. Transfer to your hotel in Arusha for an overnight stay, where you will rest after your international flight. Accommodation options: Gran Melia Arusha

Start your safari journey with an early morning departure from Arusha (around 7:00 AM) and drive to Tarangire National Park, which is about 2–3 hours away. Upon arrival, check in at the park gate and begin your first game drive. Explore the diverse landscapes of Tarangire, from open savannahs to majestic baobab trees, and follow the Tarangire River, which attracts a variety of wildlife. Look out for large herds of elephants, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and buffaloes, as well as predators like lions and cheetahs. The park is also a haven for bird lovers, with colorful species like lilac breasted rollers, hornbills, and ostriches. Midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the designated picnic sites within the park, surrounded by its stunning scenery. In the afternoon, continue your game drive, focusing on areas like the Silale Swamp, a hotspot for wildlife activity. In the evening, exit the park and head to your nearby lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Start your day with an early breakfast at the lodge, then head back into Tarangire for a full day of game driving. Focus on exploring different areas of the park, including the Silale Swamp, a haven for elephants and water birds, and the Tarangire River, which attracts a variety of wildlife. Morning hours are the best time to spot predators like lions, leopards, or cheetahs, as well as large herds of herbivores grazing in the golden light. After a morning game drive, take a break for a picnic lunch at a designated site inside the park. Continue exploring in the afternoon, making your way towards the park’s exit gates as your safari in Tarangire concludes. By mid to late afternoon (around 3:30–4:00 PM), check out of the park and begin your drive toward Karatu, which takes approximately 2–3 hours. Arrive at your lodge in Karatu in the early evening. After checking in, relax and enjoy the cooler highland climate. You can spend the evening unwinding, enjoying dinner, and preparing for your next day’s adventure at Ngorongoro Crater.

Leave your lodge early in the morning (around 6:00 AM) for a short drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After completing formalities at the gate, descend into the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders. Spend the morning exploring the crater floor, a haven for wildlife. Ngorongoro is home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and the critically endangered black rhino. You’ll also see large herds of zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles, along with hippos lounging in pools and flamingos gracing the soda lakes. At midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at the Hippo Pool picnic site, surrounded by the incredible views of the crater walls. After lunch, continue your game drive, visiting different parts of the crater and capturing its stunning beauty and biodiversity. By mid-afternoon, ascend the crater rim and begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening to conclude your safari.
